Yobe State Governor Visits Dapchi, Says No Girl Rescued
The Yobe State governor, Ibrahim Geidam has, on Thursday, denied all claims that the 93 students of Government Girls Secondary School, Dapchi, abducted by Boko Haram terrorists in the state, have been rescued.
Governor Geidam said this during his visit to Dapchi, the town of the incident.
During the visit, the distraught families and friends, on hearing the governor’s statement, broke down in public wailing and attacked the governor’s convoy.
Some members of the convoy sustained various degrees from stones and bottles fired at the entourage by the aggrieved villagers.
Meanwhile, the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Peter Ayodele Fayose has lambasted the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government over the deplorable security condition in the country.
Taking to his Twitter handle, he wrote:
“I am deeply concerned over the over 90 pupils of the Government Girls Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State, that were abducted by Boko Haram. I appeal to the FG to ensure that the girls are found. I also urge Nigerians to pray for their safety.”
Again he wrote:
“The [Federal Government] FG should stop lying concerning the fight against Boko Haram because it has now become the tradition that whenever the government boasts of defeating the insurgents, greater havoc is wrecked on the country.”
Also, the Senator representing Yobe South, Senator Hassan Mohammed blamed Governor Geidam over the abduction of 93 students.
He lamented that the governor has abdicated his responsibility to protect the lives and properties of its citizen.
He added that this not the first time that the schools will be attacked by the Boko-Haram in the state saying the attack reoccur because the Governor has failed to do the needful.
Senator Hassan who came hard on the Gov. Geidam while speaking about the abduction of 93 school said it was “disheartening” to hear Lawan commend the state government.
He said, “This is the primary responsibility of the government; to protect the lives and properties of its citizen.
“The state government of Yobe has serially failed in this regard. It has abdicated its primary responsibility in doing that.”
But Lawan got up to challenge him citing order 53 (7) of the senate rules.
“If my colleague doesn’t see those reasons and he has his perspective, he doesn’t have to refer to me that what I said is not in order.
“I have my facts, he has his facts. I will advise, that he states his fact without making reference to me,” he said.
