Your hands are stained with blood, Afenifere blasts IBB
Says Babangida’s interview is a sour taste in the mouth
The Pan Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere has chided former Military Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida following his interview with Arise TV on Friday, saying his hands are stained with blood of innocent people.
Afenifere Secretary-General, Chief Sola Ebiseni, stated this while reacting to the interview.
Chief Ebiseni reminded IBB that his hands were stained with the blood of vibrant middle-level officers who were massacred in an obviously organised plane crash on suspicion of planning a coup.
He accused the former Head of State of killing his colleagues, including his friend, Mamman Vasta, “on allegation of a fathom coup”.
He also expressed disgust that IBB ‘insulted the intelligence of Nigerians that he annulled their mandate to forestall a violent coup, which, by reasonable inference, he was aware of’.
Ebiseni wondered how Babangida could say that he annulled the June 12, 1993 Presidential election to prevent a coup in the country.
He insisted that Babangida was hiding under one finger with his claim that some top officials in the military would have staged a violent coup if he did not annul the election which was adjudged to be the freest and fairest in the history of the country.
The Afenifere scribe also laid the death of some young intelligent Nigerians at the doorsteps of the former Military ruler, saying some vibrant middle-level officers were massacred in an organised plane crash.
He said: “Babangida has not said a new thing worthy of any reaction in respect of his treasonable acts of the annulment of the adjudged freest and fairest election in the country’s political history.
“Nigerians are not interested in any excuse being now given by IBB.”
According to him, IBB “lost the opportunity of being the hero of democracy and father of a new Nigeria, an eternal regret that no whitewashing on television can redeem.”
Ebiseni, however, described the present administration ld by President Muhammadu Buhari as the worst in the history of the country and said the current administration has failed in all areas.
He said “However, it is no gainsaying the fact that the present administration has made saints of all previous administrations in every aspect of governance.
“The Buhari government has failed, even in the areas of his promises to Nigerians on security, economy and anti-corruption.
“Nigeria has been rendered a failed state in its obvious inability to secure life and property.”
He noted that “the Babangida administration cannot be accused of sectional and sectarian disposition which is the hallmark of the Buhari’s government.
“Rather than indulging in comparing any government with the present, those who still have faith in the unity of Nigeria are only fervently praying and counting days for this evil cup to pass over.”
