Zamfara APC Fails To Present Guber Aspirants For 2019
The Zamfara chapter of the All Progressives Congress [APC] has lost out the opportunity to field a governorship candidate for the 2019 general elections.
The development followed unresolved squabbles between the APC State Working Committee [SWC] and the Nation Working Committee [NWC].
Chairman of the party had reportedly manipulated the primaries’ result to favour a particular Abuja candidate to the dismay of the SWC.
Reacting sharply, the state governor, Abdul-Aziz Yari had banned the NWC from conducting any election in the state which eventually resulted to fisticuffs.
A party member told ElombahNews that the Zamfara APC does not have aspirants going into the 2019 election “due to their selfish interests”.
He further lamented that “they simply handed the entire state unopposed to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party [PDP]”.
Consequently, the electoral committee of the APC NWC has announce in Abuja today that Zamfara state has no single candidate contesting on its platform.
This, according to the NWC, “is a consequence of its inability to conduct a primary election ahead and present a standard flag bearer ahead of the Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC]’s deadline”.
