Zamfara Peace C’tee rescues 12 kidnapped victims, reunites them with families

As part of the ongoing peace and reconciliation initiative of Zamfara state government being spare headed by the Commissioner of Police, CP Usman Nagogo psc+.

On 27th May, 2020, the Zamfara State Peace Committee in collaboration with some repentant bandits have secured the release of twelve (12) Kidnapped victims through repentant bandits who were abducted about two weeks ago. The victims were rescued when repentant bandits laid and ambushed the Kidnappers.

In his remarks, the Commissioner of Police CP Usman Nagogo psc+ said, the rescued of the victims was a fulfilment of pledge made by the repentant bandits to fight their kinsmen who refused to toy the line of peace and reconciliation Committee of the state government under the leadership of Dr. Mohammed Bello Matawalle MON. He applauded the repentant bandits for the confidence they reposed on the state government and security agencies especially the police in ensuring that the peace process not only succeeds but they personally involved deeply in fighting the recalcitrant who refused to embrace the culture of peace in the state. He called on them to sustain the tempo while the security agencies will continue to partner with them to ensure peace and security in the state.

In his response, the Commissioner for Security and Home affairs Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Dauran who represented His Excellency, Dr. Mohammed Bello Matawalle MON appreciates the security agencies for their tremendous committement in the restoration of peace in Zamfara State. He further stated that the state government will continue to adopt dialogue and engagement as ways of overcoming it’s security challenges. While recalcitrant ones will be dealt with squarely . He congratulates the rescued victims for regaining their freedom and charged them to be prayerful for the sustainance of peace in Zamfara and Nigeria in general.
